The Indy Channel SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Police fatally shot a South Bend man while he was stabbing his 6-year-old daughter. She also died from her wounds. Police arrived at the family's apartment about 5 a.m. Sunday. They forced themselves inside after hearing a girl screaming and found the man on top of his daughter, stabbing her repeatedly.
