Having been a police officer for four years in mid western U.S. I never witnessed any brutality in the department.
We had a good arrest record with no unnecessary violence from our officers. On the other side of the coin I have see other departments that did not adhere to the no rough stuff policy. Most of those were in very small towns and their law enforcement shall we say leaves something to be desired when it comes to civil rights of the detainee. Often the officers use methods and techniques not prescribed for law enforcement. No wonder some people have very little if any respect for the law when the law deals with some in the public with methods not approved by law.

You never hit the face and you always aim for places not likely to bruise. I mean if the mob can figure it out, why not the cops? Well, why not the American cops? So many other countries have offices that teach their cops how to be at least superficially on the up. Seriously though in some ways I'm more appalled at the stupidity then I am the actual violence. It offends me.

It really makes me sick listening to these department spokespersons try and tell us that "it's not what it looks like. Wait for the whole story." We're not complete idiots, we all can see what is going on in that video. Out right blatant lies.
