It's surprising how often people can get away by just running. Cops would like for you to believe they catch 'em all and it isn't worth trying. I say go for it.

It helps if you're atlethic and know the area. You should also make a point of avoiding obstecles like fences or walls. Finally if you know of a place nearby that is difficult to access by people not in the know do not make a beeline toward it. Move as quickly as possible while taking a more roundabout route... I'm just saying.
