NEW YORK — A husband and wife who met at the Police Academy were promoted together to lieutenant yesterday.
Lt. Michael Deckert, 34, was called up to the stage shortly after 11 a.m. — and his wife, Lt. Tara Deckert, 37, soon joined him.
"They called his name, and they called my name. It didn't seem real," said Tara. "The chief said, 'They're married, by the way!' Everyone chuckled."
I hope these two are as good cops as they seem to be as people. They were promoted so they must be atleast partially competent. But as new Lieutenant's, now the real work begins. Watching over their fellow brothers and sisters in blue. And making sure they aren't abusing their power.
