AZUSA, Calif. (KTLA) -- Sheriff's investigators now say that a man who was fatally shot by an Azusa police officer after an aborted robbery attempt was unarmed.

It happened just after 12:30 a.m. on Monday at Red Panty's Lingerie in the 500 block of South Citrus Avenue.

Police say that Jovan Rivera, 26, of Covina, went into the 24-hour adult store, simulated a weapon by putting his hand in his jacket and demanded money from the clerk.




I guess considering this was an adult store in California, Mr. Rivera was planning on getting a pretty big haul of cash. But as it would be, it didn't quite turn out that way.
