A Bronx bodega worker was accidentally shot and killed by a police officer responding to an armed robbery inside the store early Friday morning, according to law enforcement officials.

Police say at least three men entered the bodega at 631 East 168th Street at 2 a.m. Friday and barricaded themselves inside when cops arrived.

A short time later, Reynaldo Cuevas, a 20-year-old bodega employee, exited the store and was accidentally shot dead by an officer. In surveillance footage shared by police at a press conference Friday afternoon, Cuevas is seen colliding with the officer as he runs out of the store.

"We have not spoken to the officer, but there is clearly a collision and the gun goes off," Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said at the press conference.

This is terrible. The robbers apparently sent out the hostage (Bodega worker), and the end result was him getting shot dead by the cops. Accidentally or just over-zealousness on the part of the cops? You decide. But I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to slap the crooks with an extra few years in some conspiracy to blame them for the workers death.
