WEST BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- Police surrounded a home in suburban Detroit where they believe a man suspected in the fatal shooting of a police officer had barricaded himself inside, and fresh gunfire was heard at the scene Monday.

The officer, a married father of four, was shot about 10 p.m. Sunday inside the home in West Bloomfield Township, police Lt. Timothy Diamond said. He was pronounced dead at a hospital, Diamond said.

The officer was part of a team of four or five police who responded to a 911 call that a man had tried to kill himself or needed medical attention, he said.

Story

It's always sad when these officers leave behind a wife and children and die in the line of duty. I think this guy is pretty much a goner though. Either he's gonna go homicide by cop, allow himself to be arrested and put away for a long time, or commit suicide via his own gun. Either way, this will not end well.
